Cloisonne Lapel Pins / Hard Enamel Lapel Pins

Our Cloisonne pins inherit the fine-art tradition of glass enameling which started in China centuries ago. The pins are made from pouring powdered glass into the recesses of a die-struck (stamped) brass base. After being baked at a very high temperature, the glass enamel is sanded and polished to flush out the metal lines that separate the colors. This gives the pins a smooth and lustrous quality.
Why Cloisonne Lapel Pins?
Cloisonne lapel pins are popular because the kiln firing of the glass mixture process insures a hard, durable finish. Clearly separated, bold designs are the best choices for cloisonne lapel pins as the stamping and hand polishing processes can obscure fine detail.
